Mischa’s unique textural style connects the analogue and the digital as she combines live action and mixed media animation to create distinct abstract narratives…
As a Microchunk VJ for the last 6 years, Mischa’s work has primarily been seen on the international festival circuit for a huge list of headline DJ’s including Danny Tenaglia, FatBoy Slim and Groove Armada. Exit Festival’s dance arena takes the best-gig-biscuit with four nights of ludicrous line-ups, massive LED screens, and 20 000 people going wild in the mote of an amazing old fortress.
As part of Microchunk’s Pete Tong, Ibiza residency Mischa brought the Wonderland girls from the printed page and into the limelight of the screen; directing a narrative-based video-shoot with styling by Couturex, creating animated scenes in which to place the girls and translating the resulting content into a selection of online promo videos, tour DVD’s and live visuals for the entire 2010 Ibiza season where she also VJ’d for 10 weeks.
Visuals DVD’s have also become a main line of work in recent years where a combination of branding and bespoke creative content provide acts and DJ’s with a tourable visual image. Working with VJ Loki clients include Chase & Status Finger Lickin’ Records, Mauro Picotto, Krafty Kuts, Sander Van Doorn, and very recently Adam Beyer @ Drumcode Records which took a binary-based concept into a textural field using a mix of live action and 3D animation.
Less commercial endeavours include co-creations with Jem Panufnik where artistic styles fuse as music and animation is mixed live on the electro swing stage with the audio-visual extravaganza ‘Teleparp’ up front and leading the way.
Visuals for dance and theatre are recent additions to her extensive portfolio with new and exciting steps being made into the world of installations that take all of her virtual skills and place them firmly into reality.
